Navigation Mode Change Tutorial
The RotoView app has two distinct modes:
Navigation Mode when moving or changing the device's orientation to scroll the
view; and a Fixed Mode during which the display remains fixed even if the
device is tilted. The transitions between these modes are frequent, and should
be intuitive to the user. This tutorial provides several approaches for
navigation mode changes.
Tutorial 1.1: Navigation
Mode Entry and Exit in the Default Settings
- Step 1. Select a photo for your view
navigation.
- Step 2a. Activate Navigation Mode using a
simple shake of the device. or
- Step 2b. Activate Navigation Mode by pressing
the Start RotoView button.
- Step 3. Navigate the view.
- Step 4. Exit Navigation mode by touching the
Stop RotoView button on the navigation bar.
Tutorial 1.2: Navigation
Mode Entry and Exit in the Default Settings using the Progress
Monitor
 |
The View Navigation Progress
Monitor shows the user what portion of the display they are seeing. It appears
during the Navigation Mode when the device is at the default setting. The
triangle button can be used for fine navigation mode (first touch) and for
navigation exit (second touch). |
- Step 1-3. Repeat steps 1-3 of Tutorial 1.1.
- Step 4. Tap the triangle button of the Progress
Monitor. The device will enter the fine navigation mode, highlighting the
boundary of the progress monitor.
- Step 5. Tap the triangle button again to exit
Navigation Mode.
Tutorial 1.3: Automatic
Exit based on the Exit Timer
- Step 1. Tap More to reach the Setup
menu.
- Step 2. Tap the Automatic exit timer
setting.
- Step 3. Tap the Automatic exit by Exit
Timer switch and then set a desired time length (e.g. 6 seconds).
- Step 4. You can tap the left Setup
button to return to the setup menu to see your changes, or you can tap
RotoView to return directly to the main view.
- Step 5. If you revisit tutorial 1.1 you will
notice that RotoView returns to fixed view mode after the set time length (e.g.
6 seconds).
Tutorial 1.4: Automatic
Exit based on Inactivity
- Step 1. Tap More to reach the Setup
menu.
- Step 2. Tap the Inactivity setting.
- Step 3. Tap the ON/OFF switch to
activate the automatic Inactivity exit. Inactivity is define by inactivity time
as well as inactivity threshold. Note that shorter time and/or lower threshold
may cause premature exits.
- Step 4. You can tap the left Setup
button to return to the setup menu to see your changes, or you can tap
RotoView to return directly to the main view.
- Step 5. If you revisit tutorial 1.1 you will
notice that RotoView returns to fixed view mode whenever you keep your device
at roughly the same orientation during the inactivity time.
